Sacred Roots Mentorship Program

As a client there are several ways that the mentorship program may benefit you.

• Reduced fees for services. Often as doulas are beginning their careers, they will offer reduced rates in order to gain experience. This can often lead to a win-win where the client is able to afford excellent services, and the doula is able to learn on the job with an experienced doula available for support the whole time.
• Mentor attendance at the interview between you and your doula. This provides the mentor (Katy Gladwin) with a clear understanding of your hopes for your birth and the type of support you are looking for from a doula. This gives Katy the opportunity to share insights with your doula about how your doula may best support you.
• Additional resources.  Your doula may contact Katy with questions related to your questions or experiences. Katy may provide resources that help your doula more fully understand how she may assist you, or resources that she may pass on to you.
• Guidance through Unusual Experiences. There are many variations in birth, and the longer someone attends birth the more tools and insights they gather, particularly tools relevant to less usual labor or lactation challenges. If a challenge arises for you, such as a stall in labor progress, back pain, or breastfeeding difficulties, your doula may reach out to her mentor (Katy Gladwin) for additional suggestions or guidance.
